Back to baby basics

March 19, 2008

I was sitting at the computer just mindlessly (I seem to be doing alot of mindless things lately) surfing the internet and came across this list posted on about.com.

New babies really don’t need much, it is usually the parent that wants all the gadgets to help take care of the baby.  I even came across a website that offers “sleep advise” from a certified expert!  An expert in how to provide an atmosphere for your baby to sleep longer and more peacefully.  Times sure have changed since I had little ones.  There seems to be an expert for everything now.  Books, experts, websites…..I think it is time to go back to basics,  less gadgets, more tender loving care.

Baby Needs: Clothing and Layette

  • 5-10 onesies or rompers, depending on how often you want to do laundry
  • 5-7 baby sleepers 5-7 pairs of baby socks

The best diaper bag for baby days and beyond

February 16, 2008

logo-300dpi.jpg

I was out shopping today, actually not really shopping but scouting out the larger stores in my area.  checking out the diaper bag  situation.  I was looking to see what diaper bags would be good for baby days and beyond.  I have always thought that a diaper bag should be something that can convert to a “travel” bag or a bag that I could use when going back to work.

Petiteposh.com has an array of diaper bags that are not your average bags.  In fact they are designer bags but from smaller designers and not your average run of the mill diaper bags.

capuccino-diaper.gif  Offhand Designs, beautiful!!!! Made in the San Francisco area. Unfortunately only 2 left, they are now discontinued…

Picking the perfect baby gift

November 12, 2007

How to pick the perfect baby gift is always a concern. You are spending your precious time and money and want your gift to be cherished and appreciated. If you are having a difficult time making a decision about what to give take a look at these simple tips.

Think about the parents of the baby. What is their personality like. Are they more on the serious side? If they are you would want to give a practical gift. How about crib bedding, diapers and accessories or books for new parents.

Do the parents have a great sense of humor? Think about a funky baby outfit or a personalized baby book. There a many clothing companies with printed sayings that cause a second look and a chuckle.

Remember it is not always the cost that counts. Many people make the mistake of having a set amount of money that they would like to spend. If they find a gift that is less than that amount they make the mistake of buying 2 gifts. Ooooops, big mistake. Buying 2 gifts diminishes the look of the gift implying that they were both inexpensive rather than 1 gift that was expensive.

If you are on a strict budget there is always the gift card for a personal service. Offer free baby sitting, free cooking or even home made baby food ( there are tons of recipes on the internet for free)

And last but not least, have fun thinking of the perfect gift! If you are stuck feel free to take a look at our favorite site…. www.petiteposh.com
