These mini Kaloo toys are soft, cuddly and oh so delightful. Each mini comes in its own organza bag making gift giving easy.

Have Bubbles….Will Travel

June 25, 2008

Being a new grandmother I have come to realize that certain things available today definitely make new parents lives just a bit easier.  Travelling with a baby is not so simple.  You pack up the diaper bag, dress the baby, put her in the car seat.  If it is chilly have a blanket handy, make sure the blanket doesn’t fall off or get caught in the wheels of the stroller and on and on and on.

Grobag has come out with a travel baby bag……brilliant!  This design has a two-way front travel zipper and back vent for effortless transfer from car seat to crib or stroller.  The back vent has been designed with Velcro so that there is no uncomfortable zipper at the back.

Now why didn’t they think of this when our kids were babies?

Crib Bedding …Purely Babyliciously

June 24, 2008

White crib bedding sets are so hard to come by.  Colorful seems to be all the rage but whatever happened to white, pure and simple white.  Easy to wash, soft on the eyes, peaceful and serene, white.

Babylicious has come out with this crib bedding set, Snow.  The Luxe Snow crib bedding set is all white fabric embroidered with circles to give it a classicly modern look.  This crib bedding set includes a sleep cozy (baby sleeping bag) so no blanket is required.

Go crazy and decorate the nursery in colorful designs, paint wall murals and hang pictures.  Nothing will take away from the beautiful elegance of this Luxe Snow crib bedding set by Babylicious.

It’s True!

June 16, 2008

She is finally here!  Maia, our new (and only) granddaughter has arrived!  I can’t really explain what it is like, it is a different kind of love for this perfect child, something so all encompassingly wonderful.  She is perfect and really really beautiful….really beautiful and not just because she is mine …:)

Now for the truth…the truth is that the baby doesn’t cry in the spa baby tub!!!! A miracle!  Honestly, it seemed a bit awkward to me at first to help bathe her at that angle.  I guess you are so programmed to a certain way of bathing but she really didn’t cry!!!! It is a miracle.

Now that we have bath time conquered we are on to bigger issues…..breast feeding…..I will keep you posted.

Baby Clothes , Laundry Detergent…..The Delemna

June 11, 2008

Laundry, laundry, laundry, it seems never ending once the baby arrives.   How in the world can that little one produce so much laundry?

To play it safe many suggest using “baby friendly” detergents such as Ivory or Dreft.  These detergents are fragrance and dye free and are gentle on baby’s sensitive skin.  When using any detergent I would suggest using the extra rinse cycle on your washer thus ensuring that all the soap has been rinsed away.

If the stains and odors on your baby’s clothing remain after washing you it may be time to switch to a regular liquid detergent. Unless your baby has allergies, eczema  or other conditions causing sensitive skin, washing baby clothes in a regular liquid detergent will probably not irritate your baby’s skin. Liquid detergents are your best bet because they work for all types of clothes. You may even want to use stain-removing detergents for tough stains.  If unsure it is always best to ask your doctor for advise.

Before making the switch, though, be sure to test one article of clothing first.  Whatever detergent you decide to use it is suggested to always double rinse making sure that all detergent has been washed away.

Father’s Day, the History

June 11, 2008

As I am thinking of what to get my husband for Father’s day a thought struck me.  How did Father’s Day come about?  Here is a short history of Father’s Day:

The idea for creating a day for children to honor their fathers began in Spokane, Washington. A woman by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father’s Day while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909.

Having been raised by her father, William Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sonora wanted her father to know how special he was to her. It was her father that made all the parental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora’s father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father’s Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910.

In 1926, a National Father’s Day Committee was formed in New York City. Father’s Day was recognized by a Joint Resolution of Congress in 1956. In 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father’s Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. So Father’s Day was born in memory and gratitude by a daughter who thought that her father and all good fathers should be honored with a special day just like we honor our mothers on Mother’s Day. *

My husband is a chocoholic so I think a jar filled with Hershey Kisses will say it all!  If your husband is not a chocoholic check out for a few father’s day gifts such as the Caden Lane Daddy diaper bag ( now on sale) or the Wisey Daddy baby bag.  How about a more unique gift like our Wisey Car Bag Organizer.

Remember, the best gift of all is making sure that Dad knows he is loved and appreciated, not just on Father’s day but all year round.

A personal note from a Grandmother to be

June 8, 2008

We just got back from brunch with all the kids and their significant others.  I have to say that these are my favorite times.  My daughter is just about there now, you can see the baby has dropped and she looks great!  When I was pregnant I gained 50 pounds 😦 and it took me forever to loose the weight.  She is all baby…..looks great!  Her brothers are so excited to be uncles.  They want to be called when she goes into labor and sit in the waiting room so that they can be the first ones to meet their little niece.

I have to say that at times like this I get very overwhelmed.  The lump in my throat is the size of a grapefruit and the tears just well up in my eyes.  I feel so blessed…… I am nervous about being a Grandmother and excited about the prospect.  I would love to hear from others on how this has affected your lives, I would like to hear if these emotions I am feeling are common and what I should do with them.

Till next time…..grandma to be…

Soft as a baby’s bottom

June 7, 2008

I have received many requests over the past few months to carry organic products.  100% organic cotton is not only not harmful to the people that pick and work with the cotton but it is less irritating to the baby’s soft sensitive skin.  With my own grandchild on the way I have become very aware and sensitive to this subject so I have added an Organic category to

I have been asked over and over, how do I choose my products.  I have decided to carry products that I have a passion for. When I first started  I went to a variety of vendor shows.  The first product that I fell head over heals for was Kaloo.  The softness, the simplicity and the overall splendness of the Kaloo product, whether it be the insanely cuddly plush toy or the velvety silkiness of the organic cotton onesies had won me over.

I have always offered the Kaloo plush toys but have now added their line of 100% organic cotton onesies and velour pajamas.  As a soon to be grandmother carrying the best quality product is my absolute priority.  My daughter is due any day now so for every Kaloo purchased enter the word grandmother in the comment line for a free gift with purchase.
