Day 4 – Live (my) best life!

Day 4….they say it takes 10 days for something to become a habit.  One day at a time, one step at a time to become a healthier ( and fitter) person.

5:45, the alarm went off.  I was in the deepest sleep ( which is rare lately).  I stayed in bed pondering the thought of just rolling over and going back to sleep.  Someone must have been looking out for me as it was impossible to fall back to sleep.  My husband was snoring soooooo loud!

I got up, got dressed and ran out the door.  Much to my dismay it has snowed overnight.  My car windows were covered in snow and ice.  I activated the defrost, put on my windshield wipers and prayed it would clear the windows so that I would not have to get out of the car and scrape.  It didn’t work!  I cleared off the windows and was late for the 6:15 class.  Oh well, I participated in the rest of the class then hopped on a cross trainer to do another 30 minutes of cardio.

Day 4……it really wasn’t so bad and I am finished with the gym for today…..now if I could only get my eating habits under control!

Live Your Best Life ( & mine) Day 3

Day 3 of live your best life!  I admit it…I screwed up!  My alarm went off at 5:45 a.m.  The gym has a new class called muscle mix which starts at 6:15.  I love that class ( weight lifting).  I know I really don’t lift enough weights during my workout regimen.  The instructor that is scheduled to teach the class is fantastic.  She has high energy , very motivating and shares a ton of helpful information with us.

The alarm went off at 5:45 a.m. and I turned it off , went just a little lower under my warm, comfy blanket and went back to sleep…….omg…I am so upset with myself. 

Ok, I think to myself.  What lessons have you learned…….be upset and then let it go!  I was upset, felt even guilty about not getting up, and let it go.  I vow to get up tomorrow and go to the gym ( if only to easy my guilt!).

Day 2 – Live your (my) best life!

Day 2 of living my best life.  There is a fun spin class today at the gym.  The only problem is that it starts at 6:15 a.m.  Ok, I know, it is cold ( really cold) and dark ( really dark) at that time of morning but I will give the gift of time to myself.  I will get up at 5:45 and be in that class by 6:15 ( a.m.)

The alarm went off at 5:45.  I turned it off and cuddled just a little lower into the nice, warm blanket.  I lay there thinking, do I really want to get up?  After a few minutes of pondering this I decide to brave the dark and the cold and go spinning.

I dress, and leave my warm cozy home.  My car is so frosty I could not even see out the front window.  It is now 6:10 and I refuse to be late for this class.  I squirt some windshield fluid and put my wipers on.  (Lucky for me the gym is just across the street). All the way to the gym I am squirting and wiping so that I can see where I am driving.

Into the spin class I go!  One hour of spinning, 20 minutes of weights.  I have completed my workout and am home.  Nice and warm with a hot cup of coffee and it is only 8:00a.m.

I congratulate myself on one small step to being healthier and fitter.  One day at a time !

Oprah has finally started !  I have seen the previews, watched the clips and got caught up in all the hype.  Let me preface this by explaining….I love Oprah!  I have been to her show twice (once with a girlfriend and once with my daughter).  I read her magazine from cover to cover.  I listen to her advise ( dont’ always take it but always listen).  I quit my boring job after 20 years and decided to take a different journey and learn something new, that is how www.petiteposh.com was born.

As I am aging I see the subtle changes that other women my age see.  I weigh exactly the same as five years ago but the weight has shifted.  The mid section has “spread”.  I feel dumpy in clothes so sweats have become my friend.

The Oprah show today touched me.  I realized that weight control is a constant battle.  Loving yourself is a priority ( I actually think I schedule good time for myself:) that lesson I have learnt.

A new years resolution for the coming year for me?  Learn as much as I can and not be lazy about it.

New Years Eve

New Year Eve!  When I was young (er) New Years Eve meant  going crazy, being with tons of friends, partying and having a blast.  Then as time went on New Years Eve took on a whole new meaning.  A romantic evening ( and night) with my spouse .  A get together with friends. Clubbing,  dinner and dancings.

Then along came the kids, 3 beautiful fun loving children.  New years was spent with them and friends until they no longer had any “use” for a New years eve with their parents.

Now the children are no longer children.  Our daughter even has a child of her own.  This New Years eve we started a new tradition.

We meet for dinner, us, our grown children, their partners and their children.  We meet for an early dinner and then we all go our own way.

I think we have come full circle, nothing like starting a new year surrounded by family!
