A Tisket, A Tasket, A Baby Gift Basket

I have been wracking my brains over the past few weeks for new ideas for gift baskets.  I don’t really advertise on petiteposh.com gift baskets as I find them too cumbersome to ship but I really love putting them together and getting creative.  I do this for customers in the Toronto area as delivery is easy.

So,  back to the beginning, I have been trying to come up with a new “vessel” for a baby gift basket.  I finally came up with one!  The Spa Baby Tub is the perfect container for a baby gift basket!  It is not only the perfect fit for all the products I love to fill the basket with but it is useful too.  I really dislike those gift baskets that are just baskets.  If you are like me your basement is filled with unused baskets of all shapes and sizes.

Is it me or is the weather this summer really crazy, unpredictable and iratic?  Here, in Toronto, one day is sweltering, hot and humid, the next day is spring ( did I mention it is mid July?) cool and comfortable.  The evenings on these days tends to be chilly so bundle up baby in a light spring coat.

Storing Breast Milk

While visiting my daughter and granddaughter today a very good question arose. … How long can you safely refrigerate breast milk?  We researched and came up with this – If you are not going to use breastmilk within four hours after pumping, refrigerate or freeze it as soon as possible. If the milk is refrigerated at 32 to 39 degrees Fahrenheit it can be stored for up to eight days

Problem – With “baby brain” how is a new Mom supposed to remember when she refrigerated the milk?

Pacey the Therapy Dog, doing good deeds.

Pacey has been going to the Autism class in the local public school since January 2008.  Some days I wondered if she was having an impact on any of the children.  They are all non verbal so it is sometimes difficult to tell.  The one child that it is certain she has had an impact on is a 10 year old boy.  It was love at first site!  He is of a more violent nature but extremely gentle with Pacey.  Each visit he cannot take his eyes off of her. 

This child is moving on to a new school next year and is very upset that he won’t be able to visit with Pacey.  His parents have seen the dramatic impact she has had on him and after some discussion have asked the new school to request a therapy dog to visit there also.  The school has approved the request and with the new school year will be having a therapy dog visit weekly !!!!

As for Pacey, she started the summer off with a rough start.  We discovered a tumor on her right hip and on the upper gum line in her mouth.  She had surgery last week and the results were FABULOUS!!!! She is fine, recouperating and the tumors were not malignant!

Pacey will be back at work starting September!
